Many Korean dishes are served in large portions
because sharing food is part of Korean culture.
Koreans believe that eating together is one of the best
ways to get to know someone, bringing them together
as family and friends. For this reason, when food is
ordered, small side dishes called “banchan” will be
served first. The main meal that has been ordered will
then follow upon completion in the kitchen. This allows
for time to be spent sharing one another’s dishes that
have already arrived at your table. |
